We discussed all the ideas and made pros and cons list for all of them, which made it easy to see what’s good and bad with every idea.
Find-A-Beer-Buddy:
+ Social (solves the problem of meeting new people which easily occurs when backpacking)
+ High emotional investment (the app gets more and more personal when your beer library gets larger, it works sort of like a beer-diary)
+ Could be used for a long time without getting tired of it
- Too many functions makes it complicated and maybe a bit confusing
- Unappealing to create a new account (everyone have to many accounts on to many applications)
- High risk when used the wrong way (scam or robb people)
The Beer Experience:
+ Social (easy to find events near you)
+ Flexible (fits your pocket and gives you a great overview)
+ Combines the great thing about a paper map with the interactive digital map
- There is no existing technology for the map today
- Fuzzy idea, we have problem to fully understand it
- The user experience is not that excitement because it only gives you information, you can’t interact with it in a rewarding way
STHLM Pub Crawl:
+ No account needed (low emotional investment can be great in a couple of ways)
+ Social and exciting. It gets the user engaged in real life situations
+ Gives you an easy introduction to Stockholm’s nightlife
- Risk of encourage you to drink too much
- Low emotional investment (High risk of only using it a couple of times because you get familiar with the pubs you like the most and rather go there by yourself)
- Not that inspiring to use when you’re alone
The idea we like the most is “STHLM Pub Crawl” because it feels unique, new, easy to use and something we would like to try ourselves. It was easy for us to imagine and visualize how we wanted it to work and what we wanted it to do. It also seemed like an idea that we ourselves would desire if travelling to a new city. When looking at the data we gathered from our interviews, personas (especially our main persona Tom) and scenarios, we came to the conclusion that this idea would help the backpackers in getting a great introduction to Stockholm, and getting them to do something straight away without having to plan ahead or ask around. Tom and his gang could use this to do a private pub crawl and explore the Stockholm nightlife, while Angela can find new friends by joining a public pub crawl.
We actually googled the name and found a crawl, but it’s really different from our idea. It instead works like a guided pub tour with a couple of well-oriented pub-people. The users at Tripadvisor gave that crawl five of five stars though, so it prove that people really like to pub crawl. This crawl is however only organized on specific dates, costs additional money and there isn’t really an option to personalize it and go where you want to. Also you have to get yourself to the start location, which might be far away from where you’re staying. Therefore we decided to follow through with our concept because it has a different approach to it and is more attractive in many ways.
