Nicolas and Niclas: We worked on the “wild” concept. We started looking for what makes having a beer such an enjoyable experience. Our conclusion was that the beer itself might not be the most important. The whole context of it plays a big part, where the beer acts more like a catalyst.
It’s focused around the idea of a “Beer experience”, but we didn’t focus on the technical aspects as much as the others did. The idea came from the fact that most people like to drink beer together, based on our own experiences. So we prioritized the social aspect of beer drinking and made an idea out of it. We defined “The beer experience” as the combination of the place, the available beer and the social context, e.g. some people to share the experience with. We thought of the Oktoberfest in Germany as the prime example of this kind of beer experience, where all these factors play an important role.
The app allows users to find a place where they can have a suitable Beer experience, and save and share it if they want to. The support is not exactly defined. The ideal one would be some kind of portable device with a huge screen (think digital paper or some sort of a digital interactive map). We thought of some sort of map that you in the future can grab in the nearest tourist information, and then toss/recycle it when you're done. The map would be like a thin bendable screen that you can fold just like todays paper maps. The application on the map is based around an interactive, 3D-projected map where you can see events that’s happening on pubs around you; for instance, you can see the pubs, how many people that are there right now, which kind of beer the pub is serving and additional information like opening hours and age limits. So the focus is to easily find nearby pubs with people and have a good time while on the go as a backpacker.
