Norbert wasn't able to go to the last seminar where we starter with our two concepts, and we as a group wanted to capture his ideas as well. Therefor Norbert and Sanna also developed a second "regular" concept which we named "Sthlm Pub Crawl". It is a mobile app that focuses on planning a night out for backpackers and the younger generation of tourists in Stockholm. If you want to experience the Stockholm nightlife, this app will guide you through your whole evening, finding the pubs closest to you, lets you choose one based on a short summary of information it gives you, leads you there and then it can log how long you stay there, how much you drink and then gives you suggestions on where you can go next. It works like a "runkeeper" for partying tourists.
When we came up with the concept we looked through the data we had gathered from our interviews and personas. Pretty soon it became clear that most backpackers like to have a good time, party and drink, so we decided to aid them in this. We looked through all the apps out in app stores today that will find you tons of pubs, usually restaurants as well, with loads of information, reviews, recommendations, pictures, etc. we talked about how these overload the user with information and for someone who just arrived to a new city there is no way for them to easily decide which one to choose. Therefore we wanted an app that only gives you the simplest alternatives and a very simple, maximum 5 word-description for you to base your decision on. We also got inspiration from apps like "Vine", where the restrictions (a video can only be a couple of seconds long) and the ease to use it (press the screen to film, release to stop) adds a lot to the user experience, making the app exciting and creative, and "Instagram" which alot of users prefer as a social medium over Facebook because of its constrains to posts containing small, square pictures. These got our minds on simplicity, constrains and user excitement and fun. We wanted to create this app just that way, making the user trust it in what it offers and making them want to have it.
